4-Day Napo Cultural Center
The most affordable of the three Añangu lodges and the one built around culture rather than only wildlife. It sits on the south bank of the Napo at the edge of Yasuní, and the programme is shaped by the Kichwa community that owns it — including the wayusa ceremony at 4:30 in the morning, which is not staged for visitors.

- Day 1
Coca to the Napo
A two-hour ride from Coca in a covered canoe, watching herons, kingfishers and terns work the river. You arrive at Yasuní Kichwa Ecolodge to a traditional welcome drink and lunch, then a short walk down to the riverbank in the late afternoon for the sunset over the islands.

- Day 2
Clay lick and the women of KuriMuyu
An early boat to the parrot clay lick — eleven species of parrots, parrotlets and macaws, conditions permitting, and they usually do. Then KuriMuyu, where the women of the community explain the crafts, the traditions and the way the forest is actually used. An hour’s walk in the afternoon to the 35-metre tower.

- Day 3
Medicinal plants and the Mama Cuna trail
A morning on the community projects and the Kichwa worldview, walking the Mama Cuna trail past ceibas, stranglers, bamboo and endemic Yasuní shrubs. In the late afternoon, small canoes down the Añangu creek — caimans after dark, and the sound of the forest without an engine running.

Wayusa, then Coca
Up at 4:30 for the wayusa: a bitter tea, the Kichwa songs and the conversation that traditionally opens the day. Breakfast, then the motorised canoe back to Coca.
